Taste, Memory, Connection

Taste, Memory, Connection

It's a fascinating and precious time to prepare a meal, isn't it? When we gather the ingredients we have, prepare the recipe we want, and satisfy our hunger and desires, we participate in one of the most unique moments humanity has created—an experience as unique as art.

Cuisine is closely linked to the history of humanity, dating back to the discovery of fire. The bouquet of tastes and flavors that make up our daily meals has always been the origin of rituals, bonds, means of resistance, conflicts, famines, social classes, shame, death, and an infinite array of events and feelings. This makes food one of the most important essentials in the human journey on Earth. Even Adam and Eve's expulsion from paradise was caused by a single tasty fruit!

"Taste Me" is an interactive performance featuring two dancer-cooks, taking the audience on a journey down memory lane, tasting food and emotions, with some flavors preferred more than others. Through the five tastes — sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami — we dance and eat together, sharing and remembering our individual and collective stories.
